Opportunity Details | Raleigh Beach Pickup
Opportunity Name:
Raleigh Beach Pickup |
|
Description:
Help Parks staff in keeping Raleigh Beach clean and beautiful at this litter cleanup! Every summer this location becomes a popular destination to access the river, along with that comes a lot of trash. In the last three years, one volunteer has collected over 540 bags of trash from Raleigh Beach.
Duties and Impact: Volunteers will use pickup sticks, gloves, buckets, and trash bags to collect and dispose of litter. Improperly discarded litter is a serious environmental hazard. It pollutes the water we use and depend on, it has the potential to cause injury to wildlife, and it is simply an eyesore. By removing litter, we can help provide a healthier environment for wildlife and citizens to enjoy.
Work Environment: We will be working outside in the elements. There is the possibility for uneven ground. There will not be a restroom on site.
