Opportunity Details | 5th of July Cleanup at Dix
Opportunity Name:
5th of July Cleanup at Dix |
|
Description:
Help Parks staff in keeping Dorothea Dix clean and beautiful at this litter cleanup! This will take place the day after hosting thousands of families on the big field for the 4th of July Celebration. Help us return the area to a natural state by collecting any stray trash.
Duties and Impact: Volunteers will use pickup sticks, gloves, buckets, and trash bags to collect and dispose of litter.
Improperly discarded litter is a serious environmental hazard. It pollutes the water we use and depend on, it has the potential to cause injury to wildlife, and it is simply an eyesore. By removing litter, we can help provide a healthier environment for wildlife and citizens to enjoy.
Work Environment: We will be working outside in the elements. There is the possibility for uneven ground. There will be port-o-johns on site as well as a restroom that is reachable by car.
