Opportunity Details | VR - Water Safety Event Support

Opportunity Name:
VR - Water Safety Event Support

Description:

Background to project and project overview:

This year we will continue spreading the message from “Water Safety Scotland”. Join the Rangers this year at our partnership events. In conjunction with the RNLI, Police, Fire & Rescue and the Loch Lomond Lifeboat we are running a series of public events.

Adults and children will learn how to prevent and assist in a water related emergency, introducing them to the “hidden dangers” in and around water, how to assist a person in difficulty, who to call and how best to use public safety equipment.

What would you like volunteers to do?

Uplift/load a park vehicle with the equipment required for the event. Drive to the venue, set up and liaise with our partners. During the day encourage the visiting public to join in with our water safety activities and dispense general information on the National Park and its surrounds.

Activity Level: Medium – set up/break down of equipment and props. Enthusiasm and an enjoyment of working with children is required.

Protective Equipment required: Sturdy footwear, and uniform clothing appropriate for the weather, sun screen and midge repellent.

Volunteers to bring: Lunch, and refreshments.

Specific knowledge or training required: Previous experience of erecting and manning the information station would be ideal.
