Description:

Volunteers are needed to sort through fresh produce and refrigerated food donated to Care and Share from our local grocery stores. These items are then loaded onto a Mobile Market truck to distribute directly to our neighbors that very same day. 

 

Our Mobile Markets are like grocery stores on wheels that travel all across Colorado Springs and Southern Colorado to deliver food to secluded or remote neighborhoods. This is a non-income based, anyone can participate, two bag per family limit walk up and take it home program. 

 

We could not run this program without your support!

 

During your shift you could be asked to perform date and quality checks, pack crates and bins/shelves with groceries. This can be a physically demanding shift requiring you to lift a bin of up to 10lbs and sometimes a crate of up to 40lbs.

This project is for volunteers ages 9 and up.

 

Important Safety Policies:


  • Volunteers ages 9-15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering
  • Children 9-10 years old must have 1 adult per 3 children
  • Let us know if you have any food allergies
  • All shoes must be closed toed with no open backs
  • No overly loose pants are allowed
  • No headphones (or Bluetooth devices) are allowed in the volunteer areas or the warehouse
  • Please leave your valuables at home
  • Only designated Care and Share employees are allowed to ride or operate forklift equipment
  • Personal food or drinks are only allowed in the break room
  • Dress in warm layers in the fall and winter months
  • As a courtesy to our staff and volunteers, we require that all volunteers arrive on time for your shift. If a volunteer is going to be more than 10 minutes late, we ask that you kindly excuse yourself and reschedule your shift to volunteer with us another day.
