Meal Ministry

Event Description:

Every evening, The Salvation Army in Downtown Jacksonville provides a hot meal to anyone who is hungry. We ask for groups of 10-15 individuals to help serve this meal. The meal takes place at 6:20 PM; we ask for volunteers to arrive around 5:45 PM to help set up the dining area.

Duties include: greeting guests, plating food, serving food, and clean up.

Other options and ideas include: offering a Bible study after meal is served, Christian skits, live worship, etc.

Volunteers may pull up to the gate located on Lee Street or on N. Davis Street and call the front desk (using the call box), and state you are volunteering for meal ministry and the front desk monitor will open the gate for you to park.

Children 10 and older may volunteer.

Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes to serve in the kitchen.

If you are completing community service hours, you must contact the Volunteer Coordinator to complete orientation prior to beginning your hours. You will not be permitted to perform community service until orientation has been completed.
