First Fruits Market

Volunteers will support neighbors navigating our new free-to-use grocery store at Fresno Mission's City Center. Tasks may also include restocking pantry items, inventory management, and coordination of intake and checkout.

 

Volunteer Roles:

• Greeters will acknowledge all customers in a friendly and professional manner. The greeter is responsible for directing customers to the client sign-in kiosk and managing the queueing system, as well as giving an overview of how the program operates to all new clients.
• Product Organizers will log all incoming food, organize, and stock shelves that clients will be shopping from during operating hours. This volunteer will make sure the product that comes in from CCFB is checked, dated, separated, and stocked.
• Shopping Assistants works directly with the clients while they shop. This person will engage the client in conversation while making sure they take the correct amount specified for each family size.
• Check Out Assistants will process and bag the client’s groceries once they have finished shopping.
• Floaters will be responsible for helping where needed. This person will float from station to station to make sure everything is running smoothly and that other volunteers don’t need help. This person will also relieve other volunteers from their job duties for a short time if they need a break or time away.

Age Requirement: 15 years or older

 

Shifts:

• Wednesday, Friday, & Saturday: 7:30am-10:30am & 10:30am-1:30pm, 1:30pm-3:30pm
• Tuesday and Thursday: 10:30am-1:30pm, & 1:00pm-3:30pm (Inventory control and pantry replenishment)

CCFB Customer Service Policy: Provide excellent customer service to all CCFB customers including CCFB clients, staff, donors, logistics personnel, agency personnel, volunteers, board members, and the general public.

• Engage in the following tasks or behaviors that represent excellent customer service: timely responses, punctuality and attendance, treating others with respect, distributing quality product, being knowledgeable and providing accurate information, and using appropriate non‐verbal and verbal communication.
• Represent and advocate for CCFB in the community.

Dress Code: Due to safety concerns, all volunteers must wear closed-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops). Please dress comfortably and respectfully as the temperature in our warehouse varies based on the season.

 

NO SHOW POLICY: Volunteers with more than 2 "no shows" within a one-week timeframe will be unregistered for all future events without notice. This will allow individuals on the waitlist and new participants to join us and ensure we can complete our planned projects.
