Opportunity Name:
My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Shelter Volunteer |
|
Description:
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with My Brother’s Keeper. We are an emergency shelter in downtown Waco serving the Homeless population as a social services program affiliated with Mission Waco’s Meyer Center. Volunteers play a vital role in the work we do. As such, it is my job to ensure that your experience working with us runs efficiently and smoothly.
Before you volunteer at MBK
If you have not yet gone through orientation at the Mission Waco Main Office and completed a background check, please be sure to do it before volunteering at MBK. The Volunteer Coordinator can be reached at volunteers@misssionwaco.org.
If you are cleared through Mission Waco to volunteer, please review the “ways to serve” section of this document and decide which particular way you would like to serve. Afterwards, reply to this email to schedule a time for you to volunteer.
Assisting Night Monitors. Each night, beginning at 6:30, the volunteers have the opportunity to assist the Night monitors in ensuring a safe, clean and efficient environment for residents staying each night. Assist the staff with check-in procedures and greet participants as they come in for the evening at our nightly homeless shelter for men and women. Further, this gives you the opportunity to get to know the people staying with us and making their stay more pleasant.
