Produce Distribution-Houston @ Anderson Academy

Brighter Bites volunteers will help distribute produce to families in a contactless, drive-thru pickup line and/or walking line. 

 

Volunteer duties may include:

●        Providing a warm, welcoming, and fun environment for parents and children.

●        Guiding families to check-in with Brighter Bites staff.

●        Inviting parents and kids to engage in conversations about the fruits and vegetables in the bags and the nutrition topic of the week.

●        Handing the produce to families who have checked in with Brighter Bites staff.

●        Directing traffic

●        Distributing boxes/bags into the cars and moving pallets

●        Engaging children in a nutrition-related game or activity.

●        Helping families carry the produce bags/boxes to their cars.

●        Cleaning up the Brighter Bites work area.

 

Important Requirements:

•  Please complete background check. https://eportal.aldine.k12.tx.us/sharpschool/secure/affiliate_requests/index.cfm
• This must be done at least 3 business days prior to your volunteer event, to provide time for processing.

●        Bring a government-issued photo ID. You MUST sign in at the front office to get a visitor pass and then proceed directly to the Brighter Bites location. 

●        Wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.

●        If you sign up and then wake up on the day of the shift feeling unwell, please contact us to cancel. It is no problem at all.

●       Distribution occurs OUTDOORS. Bring your own sun/rain weather gear.
