Chum Salmon Stewards Training: PART 2 - South Sound Chum

Event Description:

Join Stream Team for Part 2 of a 3-part training for volunteers interested in being Salmon Stewards at McLane Creek Nature Trail this November when the chum salmon are spawning in the creek.  (No prior experience necessary!)

Part 1: Basic Salmon training - will cover basic salmon biology and what impacts salmon populations, plus tips for being Salmon Stewards. [REQUIRED FOR NEW SALMON STEWARDS]

Part 2: Chum specific training - will cover chum specific topics and will feature speakers from the Squaxin Island Tribe and the WA Department of Fish and Wildlife - co-managers of the chum salmon fishery.

Part 3: Field Training - will be a training on site at McLane Creek Nature Trail.  (Stewarding materials will be handed out at the end of the training.)

Returning Salmon Stewards are encouraged to attend any or all of the trainings for a refresher and to meet the new Salmon Stewards.

Past Salmon Stewards are highly encouraged to attend the field training as the creek may have changed since last winter and new volunteers greatly benefit from the experience and input from returning volunteers.
