Compost at 82nd Street Greenmarket - May

Event Description:

Volunteer with GrowNYC's Zero Waste Programs to promote food scrap composting and textile reuse and recycling in New York City! GrowNYC operates 60 food scrap drop-off sites in NYC, and 82nd Street Greenmarket is one of the busiest: an average 300 New Yorkers bring 2,000 pounds of food scraps to this year-round farmers market each week! Volunteers help Compost Coordinators by assisting with outreach, source-separation, data tracking and physical work. No experience necessary, just bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm for waste diversion and recycling.

This event is outdoors and takes place rain or shine, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable closed toe shoes.

Volunteers must be 18 years and older.

If you have not attended Recycling Volunteer Orientation Training, it is required to volunteer for this event. Please register for this month or next month's orientation. Please do not show up to the site if you cannot register online. The Compost Coordinator will not except any volunteers if they are not registered.  If you have any questions, please contact the email or number below.
