Compost at Columbia Greenmarket - June

Event Description:

Volunteer with GrowNYC's Zero Waste Programs to promote organics diversion for composting in New York City. Every Sunday, food scraps are collected from neighborhood residents at the Columbia Greenmarket right by Columbia University and transported to a local compost site for processing. Volunteers are needed to help Compost Coordinators manage this busy food scrap drop-off by assisting with outreach, explanation, and physical work. No experience necessary, just bring a positive attitude and enthusiasm for waste diversion and recycling.

This event is outdoors and takes place rain or shine, so please dress for the weather and wear comfortable closed toe shoes.
