Description:

Jewish Family Service Los Angeles (JFSLA) SOVA West Community Food & Resource Program provides a 5 day supply of free groceries and personal care items (when needed) to families and individuals facing food insecurity in addition to providing information and referrals to other community services. They currently serve 120 clients a day. 

 



What You'll be Doing: Greeting clients, packing food bags, restocking and giving out food to clients.

JFSLA is requiring all volunteers and staff show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. JFSLA is an independent organization and their policies do not reflect those of the Food Bank. 

 

Requirements & Skills: 

  • Minimum age to volunteer is 18
  • Must be able to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
  • Masks are required to be worn. 
  • Be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Comfortable working indoors & outdoors.
  • Waiver Form Required. A copy will be sent to you when you register.
  • No court-ordered volunteers.

Dress Code:

  • Due to safety concerns, all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops) 
  • Dress in comfortable clothing, such as jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes.  

Parking:

  • Street Parking only, distribution is held in the back of the building enter from Robertson or Livonia. 
  • Public Parking available on 8862 W Pico Blvd. Rates apply and they accept cash only. Fees start at 5$.

Supervision: 

  • On-site Volunteer Coordinator will work directly with all volunteers.

COVID-19 Response: 

 

In addition to standard health and sanitation procedures, SOVA Pico West will:

  • Screen volunteers for COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Implement social distancing measures. 
  • Provide hand sanitizer for use.
  • Provide gloves to all volunteers.

Do not volunteer if you have experienced symptoms related to COVID-19 such as fever, cough, or shortness of breath.
