Opportunity Name:
Second Saturday Restoration event @ Sapp Road Park

Description:

Hello Stream Team Members,

Sapp Road Park restoration efforts are well underway! So far, we have been focusing on removing weed barrier, aerating soils, trimming tree limbs, and assessing overall future efforts to continue our work to improve the health of this amazing park. A BIG thank you! to those of you who have volunteered to get us this far.

Restoration projects like this leave all of us with a sense of accomplishment, wonder, and hope for the future of our communities. Sapp Road Park is significant in many ways, and we invite you to become a part of this legacy work. As a sneak peek, the work includes extensive planting both in the wetland as well as its buffers, ongoing research with the City of Tumwater, WDFW, and others focusing on beaver habitat, and aquatic and amphibian species.

In the meantime, we are staying focused on-site preparations, which include the removal of most if not all of the weed barrier, continued soil aeration and tree limbing. As the days warm up, we will also include removing yellow flag iris within Percival Creek, which runs through Sapp Road Park. Join for the full 4 hours or just a couple, it's up to you. We're just so grateful for the help and time to building a more resilient community.

See you at Sapp Road Park!
