Help people impacted by disasters. Free training provided. Supportive team members. Hours flexible after training depending on your availability. General commitment after training is 1 hour per month for information and training updates. Volunteers should be age of majority or at least age 16 with parental approval.
Volunteers are eager to help their community and report a sense of accomplishment and increased self-esteem. They also feel better prepared should their family and friends be impacted by an event.
Useful skills:
• good oral and written communications
• comfortable with computers and basic data entry
• comfortable working in a busy environment
• good organizational skills
• good at identifying and accessing resources such as food, clothing, lodging
• comfortable working with people who have experienced stress or trauma
