Description:

Christian Outreach in Action (COA) is a non-profit organization, that serves homeless and low-income people in Long Beach. Christian Outreach in Action's Food Bank gives out groceries 5 days a week to low-income, and homeless residents who are hungry and fighting with food insecurity. Food is distributed from Monday through Friday

 



What You'll be Doing: Setting up food bank area, greeting clients, assembling food bags, restocking shelves, unloading shipments of food and giving out food to clients.

 


Requirements & Skills: 

  • Minimum age to volunteer is 18
  • Some light to moderate lifting, although not necessary for all roles.
  • Ability to stand and bend.
  • Ability to respect and maintain personal boundaries and client confidentiality
  • Comfortable working indoors.
  • COA requires all of their volunteers to sign waiver forms before volunteering. A copy of the waiver will be sent to you after you register.
  • No court-ordered volunteers.

Dress Code:

  • Due to safety concerns, all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops). 
  • Dress in comfortable clothing, such as jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. COA will provide a volunteer vest upon arrival.

Parking:

  • Metered Street Parking Only 

Supervision: 

  • On-site Volunteer Coordinator will work directly with all volunteers.
