Breakfast for the Unhoused -St. Francis Center (Agency Site)

 

St. Francis Center is a soup kitchen and food pantry located in Downtown LA that serves the housed and unhoused communities. 

Volunteer roles are assigned on the day of the event and are based on the needs of the organization, but typically include:

• Table Captains/Floaters – The volunteer in this role will act as the server for the table and assist guests with anything they need.
• Coffee Captains– Volunteers help prepare cups of coffee and provide refills when needed.
• Kitchen Captains– This volunteer will help in the kitchen. They can expect to help with food prep and preparing the breakfast plates or soup.

Requirements & Skills: 

• Must be 18 years or older 
• All volunteers must review and sign St. Francis Center's volunteer application form. A copy will be sent to you when you register.
• Comfortable working indoors 
• Be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Does not accept court-referred volunteers
• No walk-ins allowed, must register ahead of time

Parking:

• Street metered parking only

Work Environment:

• Indoors
• On feet for extended period of time

Dress Code:

• Due to safety concerns, all volunteers must wear close-toed shoes (no sandals or flip flops) 
• Casual and comfortable attire is recommended.
  
  • Ex: t-shirt and jeans
  • For safety reasons, please no shorts or tank tops

Supervision: 

• On-site staff member will work directly with all volunteers.
