Urban REAP Volunteer

All volunteers will be required to attend the general volunteer orientation, complete a background check and attend an Urban REAP training before they can begin volunteering.  In CERVIS you will not be able to sign up for REAP volunteer slots unless you have completed these steps.

 

Age limits:

• 12 and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult; a MWMW staff member must be onsite at all times.
• 13-15 years can volunteer on their own on a case by case basis, but they must work with an adult (18+) at all times, a MWMW staff member must be onsite at all times.
• 16-17 can work on projects independently without an adult (18+) present; however, a MWMW staff member must be onsite at all times.
• 18+ can work on projects independently without an adult or staff onsite

When signing up please note the different types of opportunities including team projects, weekday before/after hours, and weekend before and after hours.

 

GENERAL VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION

This time slot is for those looking to work alongside our team on special projects and daily chores.  During this time, you will assist us with our gardens, aquaponics system, compost project, and/or some of our educational and community programs.  You can sign up for as many hour slots as you would like.

HARVEST VOLUNTEERS

This time slot is for those looking to harvest alongside our team!  During this 2-hour time we will harvest herbs and produce to sell at Jubilee Food Market and to our restaurant partners.  We ask volunteers to volunteer for the whole harvest time (2 hours) so we can be efficient, and we also prefer Harvest Volunteers to volunteer 3 times or more to help save us time on training.

BEFORE & AFTER HOURS TIME SLOT DESCRIPTION

This time slot will be to complete the necessary chores to keep Urban REAP running: feeding the fish, watering the horticubes, watering the Garden Center plants, and watering the gardens.  Staff won’t be here during this time, so if you choose this option you should feel comfortable working on these tasks alone.  All of the essential chores (watering, fish feeding) should be done before 10am for Before Hours or done after 4pm for After Hours.

 

Note - Please do NOT sign up for this shift unless you are able to commit.  Once we see someone has signed up for an after hours shift, we schedule staff accordingly.  If you are not able to attend, please cancel your shift as soon as possible and text 254-300-8029.
