Description:

Competition: The event will run as a modified round robin tournament games will consist of two - fifteen-minute halves with a five-minute half-time break. Soccer competition is made up of two leagues traditional and unified. Volunteers will be asked to do anything from team management, clean up, fans in the stands, score clock, help with individual skills, check-in and registration, etc. 

 

The purpose of the Soccer Individual Skills Competition is to allow athletes to train and compete in basic and more advanced soccer skills. The development of these key skills is necessary prior to advancing to play on the soccer field. 

 

Athletes compete in the following skill assessments: 

Level 1 - dribbling, shooting and the run and kick. 

Level 2 - dribble and shoot, control and kick, agility kick. 

 

Volunteers are needed to help keep score, marshal athletes, escort athletes to each station, etc.

 

Event Information Desk:  Volunteers will be responsible for signing in volunteers, giving out volunteer assignments, and distributing volunteer shirts. Team/Athlete Check-In will take place at the event desk as well. A schedule will be provided to mark teams down as they arrive. Volunteers are also responsible for answering questions from spectators and coaches.

 

Referees (Team Play)- Referees will be responsible for enforcing Special Olympics rules for soccer.  They will be asked to assist with cleanup at the end of the event.*SEEKING EXPERIENCED REFEREES - BRING YOUR WHISTLE AND REFEREE SHIRT*

 

Scorekeeper/Bracket Master- This volunteer will receive and record game scores from the officials and create the final brackets after round robin play.  They will be asked to assist with cleanup at the end of the event.

 

Setup- Volunteers will be responsible for assembly and placement of soccer goals, scoreboard and corner flags for the Team Play event.  For individual skills, they will be responsible for set up and arrangement of skill stations. 

 

Officials:  Individual Skills- These volunteers will be responsible enforcing the Special Olympics rules for individual skills.  They will be asked to assist with cleanup at the end of the event.

 

Scorekeeper/Marshall Individual Skills- These volunteers will be responsible for organizing athletes at each station and recording each competitors scores upon completion of each station.

 

Scoreboard Operation- The volunteer will run the scoreboard, including time and scores for each team.  They will be asked to assist with cleanup at the end of the event.
