Faith Pharmacy

Faith Pharmacy offers free maintenance medications to low-income, uninsured Lexington residents every Saturday morning. Data entry technicians should have prior data entry experience in a community pharmacy setting. There are 6 unique positions that make Faith Pharmacy possible:

• Triage- The individuals in this role help gather information from patients requesting medication refills, then relay that information to the pharmacy for filling. Once a prescription has been filled and verified our triage staff return to the patient, check that all requested medications are present, ask if they have any questions for the pharmacist, and finally provide that medication to the patient.
• Triage (Interpreter)- We are grateful to have Spanish interpreters on site every Saturday morning to provide the services listed above in both English and Spanish.
• Pharmacist- Your pharmacists are truly the bread and butter of Faith Pharmacy. Our volunteer pharmacists come from a wide variety of backgrounds in community, clinical, research, and academic pharmacy. They provide expertise throughout the prescription filling process and complete final verification before prescriptions are provided to the patient.
• Filling technician- Two to three volunteers are scheduled as filling technicians every Saturday. These folks will pull medications from the shelf as refill requests come in, provide those medications to the data entry technician for processing, then count and label prescriptions before handing them off to a pharmacist for final verification. This role is ideal for those newer to pharmacy with a high attention to detail. If you have never worked in a pharmacy, we request that you reach out to us in advance so we can prepare you for your shift. In order to volunteer as a filling technician you must have a Kentucky Board of Pharmacy pharmacy technician registration or intern license.
• Data entry technician- These technicians set the pace for the pharmacy! Data entry technicians receive refill requests and process them in our record keeping system, QS1. They troubleshoot issues, field KPAP requests, work with pharmacists to interpret prescriber's orders, and are typically our experts in Faith Pharmacy operations. This role is ideal for those with extensive community pharmacy experience, knowledge of drug names and indications, ability to interpret prescription SIG codes, and are highly collaborative. In order to volunteer as a data entry technician you must have a Kentucky Board of Pharmacy pharmacy technician registration or intern license.
• Pharmacy technician manager- Currently there are three pharmacy technician managers who assist with data entry, inventory management, and volunteer training. They are Cheyenne Woodall, Jacob Lee, and Tiffany Adams.
