Suggested by Lawyer, Pretrial Intervention, and Court Ordered Community Service Shift.

 

Please call and verify your charge with our Volunteer Coordinator, Betsy Van Dyne at bvandyne@secondharvest.org or 704-805-1712 prior to signing up for a shift.  

 

This is the only shift available for Court Ordered or Suggested by Lawyer.  Please do not sign up for our regular sorting shifts as that will not count towards your hours.

 

You will also be working on our agency shopping floor helping load purchases for our partner agencies.  Duties can also include picking up trash around the building, sweeping/mopping the warehouse and washing company cars as needed.  Dress appropriately as you may be outside for some of the time.

 

We accept ONLY Traffic Violations - Speeding, Reckless Driving, and Driving While Impaired.  We DO NOT accept any Drug Charge or Possession, Larceny charge, Theft, Shoplifting, Forgery, Breaking & Entering, Assault of any type, Domestic violence, or Pedophilia. Out of State charges are handled on an individual basis. 

 

Additional items of note:

• Must be 18 years of age (sorry no juvenile cases are accepted here at SHFB)
• A copy of the court document or ticket stating your offense may be required along with a photo ID
• If you schedule to volunteer and do not show and you do not call to let us know that you can't attend, all upcoming scheduled dates will be cancelled and you will not be able to complete your hours with us here at SHFB. 
• You must wear closed-toe shoes as per OSHA regulations as you will be in our working warehouse.  No controversial wear.  Shorts of a respectful length are permitted. No midriff or crop tops. No undergarments to be shown. You will be sent home if you are dressed inappropriately.
• If you have a fever or do not feel well, we urge you not to attend.  If you are displaying signs of being sick, one of our team members will ask you to leave.
• No weapons of any kind are permitted on our premises 
• Please leave valuables at home or locked in your car.  We do not have lockers to store purses and are not responsible for lost items. 
• Cell Phone use is not permitted inside our building for safety reasons.  Leave your phone in your car or at home.
• Bending, standing during the entire shift and lifting up to 25 pounds is required.  You must be healthy when you volunteer.  No one with an injury will be allowed to volunteer.
• Zero Tolerance Policy - anyone putting candy, snacks or any other item into their pocket, will be asked to leave and will not be able to volunteer for any future dates. We strongly enforce this policy.
