Gillson Park is one of the most beautiful natural areas of the North Shore. It is 60 acres of land on the shores of Lake Michigan that has many varieties of native and non-native trees. Several years ago the park received a grant of $60,000 for creating bird habitat. The Wilmette Park District has added wildflowers, shrubs, and small trees that provide layers underneath the existing old growth trees. These provide a variety of food and shelter sources for the migrating birds. |
