Annual Production at the City Greenhouse

Join greenhouse staff with preparing 23,000 pots for fall annuals. Our Raleigh Park Greenhouse grows and produces over 80,000 plants for Raleigh Parks, Greenways and city properties annually. Help contribute to these efforts by coming to the City's Greenhouse to fill & wash pots with. 

 

Duties and Impact:

Volunteers will use their hands to fill pots with soil or wash pots in a tub of water with a brush. You can expect to stand for the majority of the project. As the saying goes, many hands make light work so having your support will help greenhouse staff immensely.  

 

Work Environment:

We will be working inside the headhouse and inside the greenhouse. The headhouse is air conditioned and the greenhouse is humid and warm. There is the possibility for wet ground conditions and also dust and pollen. There will be a restroom on site.

 

Requirements:

• Ages 12+. Those under 16 must have a parent/guardian present
• Complete a release form for the calendar year (if prompted). Those under 18 will need a parent/guardian signature

Other Instructions:

• Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing
• Wear close-toed sneakers or hiking boots
• Bring your own filled water bottle

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
