Box Turtle Connection is a 100 year, Citizen Science project that aims to build a long-term database to serve as a conservation tool and a model for current and future turtle research. Join us in learning how to track, band, and collect data on the box turtles that live in Walnut Creek Wetland Park.
Duties and Impact: Banding, tracking, and monitoring for box turtle activity in a section of Walnut Creek Wetland Park assigned to them upon arrival. Box turtle populations are in serious decline, and this initiative is contributing to the study and conservation of this native species and strategies for their longevity and the protection of their habitat.
Work Environment: The event will take place outside on uneven terrain with access to facilities at the nature center.
