ICSA Swim Meet at Optimist

Description:

This is a typical swimming competition between the city teams that are part of the ICSA (4 in all). They will be competing against each other, as well as the clock, for best times in each stroke as well as two relay events and the Individual Medley Relay.

 

Duties and Impact:

Volunteer duties will vary depending on what is needed. They could include timing, ribbon writing, running cards from timers to the scorers and taking children to their designated swimming lanes.

 

Volunteers will be contributing to their city by facilitating competitive swimming which includes team building, swimming skills and a sense of ownership of city facilities and programs. Swim teams also develop young people and teach them valuable life skills for adulthood.

 

Work Environment:

Volunteers will be mostly inside on the pool deck which will be warm and humid. Please plan accordingly and wear appropriate clothing. There will be water fountains and restrooms on site.

 

Requirements:

  • Ages 14+. Those under 16 must have a parent/guardian present.
  • Complete a release form (if prompted). Those under 18 will need a parent/guardian signature

Other Instructions:

  • Wear comfortable, loose fitting, cool clothing
  • Wear close-toed sneakers or hiking boots
  • Bring your own filled water bottle

Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
