ALERT is a disaster-response animal welfare group that is dedicated to the preparation for and the actual evacuation, rescue and sheltering of companion and non-commercial livestock during a disaster. We are 100% volunteer-powered and 100% funded by donations and grants. Our service area covers both Regional Districts of the Central Okanagan and the Okanagan-Similkameen and we are committed to assisting animals who are evacuated from their homes within that service area.

We are looking to add a new treasurer to our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with Quickbooks for Nonprofit Organizations and live in the Penticton-area. When ALERT is active responding to big evacuations (like during wildfire season), this role can be very busy; other months fall into an accounting routine. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements electronically and distributing them to the board of directors in advance of their meetings; preparing the Annual General Meeting Year End Financial Reports; distributing tax receipts in a timely manner; and attending monthly board meetings. Useful skills for a successful candidate to have include a background in accounting, be able to prepare financial statements, and be able to maintain confidentiality. Hours are flexible but availability during "banking hours" will be needed at times
