Event Description:

Bocce is one of the most popular sports among Special Olympics Athletes!  In Chicago, over 40 Bocce Courts will be set up with approximately 10 games being played on each court!  


With an event this large, volunteers are greatly needed!  


Volunteers will be responsible for officiating the games by keeping score and measuring, escorting athletes to the appropriate court for their competition, running results, distributing awards, assisting with set up and tear down, distributing water and lunch and coordinating additional activities for the athletes during their down time!  Below are brief descriptions of the volunteer job responsibilities:


Court Runners:  Will collect all score sheets for games on assigned bocce courts and bring to specific court tents.


Court Supervisor:  Responsible for overseeing their assigned courts and ensuring that all rules are being followed.


Head Official:  Lead person on court, responsible for conducting official game play for athletes and will keep score.


Assistant Official: Assists head official in scoring and measuring as well as making sure the correct athlete is taking their turn. 


Court Escort:  Will be responsible for making sure other athletes who are not competing are ready for their turn on the assigned court. 


Results/Awards: Assist in compiling results and announcing and distributing awards to all athletes. 


Lunch:  Set up lunch area and distribute lunch to all athletes, coaches, and volunteers.  Will assist in monitoring the lunch area and cleaning up when lunch is finished.
