Description:

To register for this event volunteers must have previously completed AST onboarding and hold a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening.

 

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s (WFA) is a national fundraising event which takes place the last weekend in May. On this weekend, communities across Canada come together with a common purpose; to raise funds and awareness for local Alzheimer’s Societies across the country. Dementia has touched many lives and our Walks provide the opportunity for our local community to get involved by fundraising, volunteering or even sharing their story. 

 

Objective: The WFA Promotion Caller will assist with the promotion of our upcoming walkathon by calling potential participants, donors and walkers to encourage them to register for the walkathon, make a donation to support our cause and participate at this community event.

 

Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Make phone calls to potential participants, donors and walkers to promote our walk.
  • Provide information about the walk, including the date, time, location, and activities.
  • Encourage individuals to register for the walkathon and make a donation to support our cause.
  • Maintain accurate records of all phone calls made and follow up with individuals as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all individuals contacted.

 Qualifications:

  • Outgoing and Friendly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable making phone calls to individuals who may be unfamiliar with our organization or event.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Time Commitment:

  • Day 1: Thursday April 18th between 11:00am - 5:00pm. 
  • Day 2: Thursday May 2nd between 11:00am - 6:00pm.
  • Day 3: Tuesday May 14th between 11:00am - 6:00pm.

Location:
In-person at the Yonge and Eglinton Office (20 Eglinton Ave West, 16th Floor, Toronto)

 

Orientation/Training:

  • Orientation to the Alzheimer Society of Toronto
  • Understanding Dementia and Supportive Communication
  • Social & Recreational Training
  • Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act training

Screening:

All applicants will be required to submit a volunteer application, participate in an interview, complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and provide two references to be contacted by the Volunteer Department.

 

Supervision:

This role will be supervised by the staff supervisor and the Fund Development team.
