Tree Planting at Bluestem Prairie 2024

HEY VOLUNTEERS!

We're glad you're here.

 

Let's help plant some trees! 

We need the help of volunteers like you to help us to plant tress in and around our Bluestem Prairie development. We are excited to be partnering with the Urban Bird + Nature Alliance and the Greener Together Program to plant around 130 trees in our new neighborhood.

 

TASKS: 

• Help plant trees (tree holes are pre-dug to ease volunteer labor)
• Lay mulch around trees

 

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  

No tools or experience are necessary, our supervisors will be happy to train everyone on the tasks of the day. We do ask that you bring your own shovel and gloves if you have them.

 

DRESS CODE: 

Please wear closed toe shoes/weather-appropriate clothing.

 

AGE RESTRICTIONS: 

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. 

 

WHAT WE’LL PROVIDE: 

We will provide water and snacks.

 

WHAT TO BRING: 

Please bring gloves and a shovel if you have them! We will have extra gloves on site for anyone who needs them.

 

LOCATION/ASSIGNMENT: 

We will be meeting on the west side of house located at 5098 Vernon Avenue. 

 

PARKING: 

Volunteers please use the designated volunteer parking lot located at 6412 Forest Lawn Ave. If the lot is full, please utilize any legal street parking in the area.

 

WEATHER CANCELATIONS: 

For snow-related cancelations, Habitat Omaha will follow the closing policy of Metropolitan Community College (MCC).  If MCC classes are canceled or scheduled for early dismissal, volunteers will also be canceled/dismissed. 

 

We will email and text volunteers who are signed up if there is a cancelation or location change.
