Opportunity Details | Saturday Testing Clinic Receptionist

The Damien Center provides free and confidential HIV and STD testing to the public on the second and fourth Saturday of each month. It is important that we remain consistent in having someone help with the reception desk on Saturdays in our testing area for many reasons - as a friendly, familiar face within our community and as a warden of entry and safety for the testing clinic! 

The Testing Reception volunteer will monitor clients coming in from outside, welcome clients and provide them with the appropriate paperwork, direct clients to the Testing Center waiting room, alert staff via MS Teams when a client has shown up, occasionally answer phone calls, and help clean the waiting room at the end of the day. This volunteer must be self-sufficient and able to work independently. 

This opportunity is a great fit for folks who want a low-commitment, low-stress volunteer opportunity. The current need is on the second and fourth Saturday of each month, from 10am - 2pm. Students with homework and retired community members looking to socialize are encouraged! 

Requirements: 

• Must have completed Damien Center 101 Training
• Be available for at least 3 of the shifts associated with this opportunity
• Volunteer must have a signed HIPAA/Confidentiality Policy form
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Demonstrate courtesy and pleasant manner in personal and phone contact
• Demonstrate total respect for confidentiality of any information known through telephone or personal contact
• Understand and implement information in the Reception Manual
• Ability to multitask
• Dependable and punctual for assigned shift
• Familiarity with MS Teams is a plus
