2024 Summer Games State Track & Field - Stillwater

Special Olympics Minnesota's Summer Games is being held June 21-23 and we are looking for volunteers to help make the day happen! 

 

No Track & Field experience? No problem! A detailed training is given at the beginning of each shift-you don't need to have any experience, just a great attitude and willingness to be a part of a day that athletes look forward to all year!

 

You're welcome to sign up for any of the following roles-all are outdoors:

• Awards Assistants - As a team with SOMN staff, this position receives timing sheets, enters times on score sheets and ribbons, and assists with ceremony awarding athletes.
• Field Assistant - This position works with SOMN staff to run field events (Throws, Jumps, Shot Put, Standing/Running Long Jump & High Jump) and bring results to awards.
• Staging/Escorts – As a team with SOMN staff, this position involves staging athletes for their race or field event by heats and setting athletes up in their lanes for track and field events. Escorts lead athletes from staging to their event.
• Timers – As a team with SOMN staff, this position is responsible for using a stopwatch to time athletes in their track lane. 

Volunteer Expectations

• Volunteers must be 15 years or older to volunteer on their own.
• 12-14 year old volunteers are welcome when volunteering with chaperone/parent/guardian 18+.
• Interested volunteers who are under 12 are welcomed to cheer on athletes as fans in the stands with chaperone/parent/guardian 18+.     
• You may sign up for one or more shifts over the weekend.
• You'll receive a reminder email 1-2 weeks before the event with more details on parking, what to pack, etc. 
• All volunteers are expected to follow Special Olympics Minnesota’s Volunteer Code of Conduct.
