Description:

Special Olympics Minnesota's Summer Games is being held June 15 + 16 and we are looking for volunteers to help make the day happen! 

 

No Gymnastics experience? No problem! A detailed training is given at the beginning of each shift-you don't need to have any experience, just a great attitude and willingness to be a part of a day that athletes look forward to all year!

 

You're welcome to sign up for any of the following roles:

  • Awards Assistant
    • Responsible for presenting awards to athletes. 
  • Judge Attendant
    • Support event judges and bring results to awards. 
  • Music/Sound Assistant
    • Play specific music for athletes competing as instructed by coach. 
  • Score Room Assistant
    • Work with staff to confirm scores, assemble & place awards. 
  • Judge 
    • Must be current or former gymnastics judge or high level experienced gymnast (16+). For more information, contact Denise Tschida at denise.tschida@somn.org

Volunteer Expectations

  • Volunteers must be 15 years or older to volunteer on their own.
    • 12-14 year old volunteers are welcome when volunteering with chaperone/parent/guardian 18+.
    • Interested volunteers who are under 12 are welcomed to cheer on athletes as fans in the stands with chaperone/parent/guardian 18+.     
  • You may sign up for one or more shifts over the weekend.
  • You'll receive a reminder email 1-2 weeks before the event with more details on parking, what to pack, etc. 
  • All volunteers are expected to follow Special Olympics Minnesota’s Volunteer Code of Conduct.
