Opportunity Name:
2024 Health Promotion Summer Games (Lakeville)

Description:

Special Olympics Minnesota's Summer Games is being held on June 15-16 and we are looking for volunteers to help run Health Promotions screenings at the event! Feel free to sign up for AM and PM shifts if you are able to help out all day!

Through Health Promotions, athletes receive free screenings in a fun, welcoming environment.  Health Promotion screenings use interactive educational tools to raise awareness as well as conduct health screenings for BMI, BP and BMD.  Our mission is to improve each athlete's health and fitness, leading to enhanced sports experiences and improved well-being.

Volunteer Expectations….

Clinical:

  • Volunteers must have current licensure as a health professional e.g., RD, CHES, RN, MD, DO, PA, NP, fitness professional, PharmD or Dietitian or be a student to sign up for a Clinical role.
  • Volunteers do not need to have Clinical experience to sign up as General Support, Warm up/Competition Readiness Assistant, Check In or in Floater roles.
  • Watch our 'What to Know Before Volunteering' video for more helpful hints!

Warm up/Competition Readiness Assistant (Non-clinical)

  • Volunteers are preferred to have experience and knowledge in stretching and warm-ups.
  • Volunteers will help athletes warm up and stretch before their competitions.
  • Provide education on why a proper warm up is important.
  • Lead athletes through dynamic warmups.

Thank you for volunteering with Special Olympics Minnesota! We count on you and you play a very important role in our success!

  • Check In
    • Volunteer Check-In will be located outside the lobby door of Century Middle School.

  • Keep in Mind
    • All volunteers are expected to follow our Volunteer Code of Conduct.
    • The relationship between Special Olympics and volunteers is an “at will” arrangement, and termination can happen at any time without cause.
