Crate Washing (Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoons)

We distribute fresh produce in crates to our partner agencies and to Mobile Food Pantries. After every use, these crates need to be washed. Help us ensure that our supplies are sanitary!

 

Volunteers will use soap, water, and sanitizer to wash crates.

 

We will be working in the warehouse, so please dress appropriately (layers and closed toe shoes). Duties will involve standing, light lifting, and walking on potentially wet floors.

 

Upon arriving at Food Bank of Alaska, enter through the "Main Entrance" door. Sign in on the sign-in sheet or on your phone, then follow the arrows to the volunteer area in the warehouse. 

 

Please note that we cannot take volunteers who are under the age of 12 at this event.

 

In the event that Anchorage School District closes due to inclement weather or unsafe roads, Food Bank of Alaska volunteer events will also close for the day. Food Bank of Alaska does not close if only Mat-Su schools are closed. 

 

We need a specific number of volunteers to ensure we are able to efficiently serve all clients so we request the following:

• Please bring only those in your group that have signed up in advance.
• Do not plan to attend if you are still on the waitlist on event day.
• Please make sure to cancel your registration if you cannot make it so that we can open up your spot for other volunteers. There is a link to cancel registration in the event confirmation email, or you can cancel registration on our website.

Media Policy

Food Bank of Alaska reserves the right to film or photograph volunteer activities for its uses.  If you prefer to not be filmed or photographed, please let us know at the start of your activity.

 

Volunteers are permitted to film or photograph themselves or group members, so long as it does not create a disruption or infringe upon the privacy of other volunteers.  If you happen to photograph or video a volunteer not in your party, or a partner agency, please inform the Manager of Volunteer Resources for guidance before using media publicly.
