Opportunity Name:
Stamp Out Hunger

Description:

Stamp Out Hunger is back again! Each year, the Postal Carriers across Colorado Springs collect shelf stable food donations. Those donations then come directly to Care and Share to be processed and sent to our hundreds of partners throughout Southern Colorado.

This event is a very fast-paced, high energy food drive. Taking place in the evening as the postal carriers spend the day collecting the donations.

Our goal is to receive large roll-off bins from trucks, and process anywhere between 50,000-100,000 pounds of food within a few short hours.

We ask that volunteers commit to staying the entire time. The evening could potentially go until 9 or 10pm.

Volunteers will roll large crates off of trucks, quickly sort the donation into a category, recycle cardboard, and clean up trash. Some volunteers will be asked to help with pallet jack duties and tote building duties.

sandwich wraps, chips, and bottled water will be provided.

To effectively fulfill our mission, these volunteer opportunities will vary based on the immediate needs of the Distribution Center. Tasks may include inspecting, sorting, and packing food for distribution; bulk food processing; off-loading and sorting food at the receiving dock; and/or refrigerator sorting and packing.

T-shirts and jeans are perfect for this rewarding work! We will provide latex gloves at your request. Closed toed shoes are required. Volunteers must be able to stand for two and a half hours and lift 20 lbs.

ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST WATCH OUR ORIENTATION VIDEO BEFORE VOLUNTEERING: CLICK HERE TO WATCH.
