Description:

Michigan Humane is partnering with the Detroit Tigers to bring people and animals together. Pet owners are encouraged to bring their family out for a night of fun without leaving their furry companion home. You heard right; dogs are welcome to attend the game with their owners! A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to Michigan Humane and will raise awareness for the work we do in our community. 

 

Volunteers are needed to help with pet entry into the stadium and overseeing the dog friendly area of the park. This event is a could be a good fit for volunteers who enjoy baseball and starting up conversations with other dog lovers. If you are interested in volunteering, please review the additional descriptions of responsibilities below before registering.

 

Experience working this event or similar events is helpful, but not required.

 

Animal Check-in

  • Walking the line and welcoming guests to the event
  • Asking guests to get their vaccination records ready to be checked
  • Reviewing vaccine records and granting access into the park
  • Must enjoy working with people and pets, possess good communication and customer service skills, and
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in rain or shine
  • Responsibilities will require standing for the duration of the shift

Pooch Patrol

  • Overseeing dog friendly area of the ballpark
  • Welcoming visitors and pets and engaging in casual conversation
  • Ensuring all owners and dogs being respectful & polite 
  • Keeping play yard clean & making sure water dishes are filled
  • Encouraging guests to check out vendor booths 
  • Assisting with traffic flow & answering general questions
  • Encouraging and capturing pictures of visitors near our photo backdrop
  • Must enjoy working with people and pets, possess good communication and customer service skills
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in rain or shine
  • Responsibilities will require standing throughout of the shift

Directing Guests

  • Welcoming guests to the event
  • Directing guests to dog-designated areas and letting them know which areas are inaccessible to dogs
  • Must enjoy working with people and pets, possess good communication and customer service skills, and
  • Must be willing to work outdoors in rain or shine
  • Responsibilities will require standing for the duration of the shift
