Volunteers at New Hire Orientation

Come along to Michigan Humane's administrative offices at Chroma for New Hire Orientation! These sessions provide an in-depth look at Michigan Humane's history, practices, and organizational philosophy, while also offering a chance to meet and make connections with other volunteers, new staff, and the administrative team at Bingham Farms!

 

Volunteers will learn the roots of humane organizations in the United States, as well as how Michigan Humane came to be and has evolved since 1877; other topics will include a primer on animal behavior and Michigan Humane's positive reinforcement approach to behavior modification, workplace safety and education on the materials our shelters employ, and customer service training.

 

Please keep in mind that this event is not the same as an in-shelter volunteer orientation, which allows you to begin serving in volunteer roles at our animal care centers. To register for an orientation at your preferred shelter location, please follow one of the links below:

Parking and Entry

Please park in the main Chroma building parking lot and go to the main entrance. When you arrive, please call Riley Amato at 248-225-6704  for entry into the building.

 

Dress Code

Long pants, closed toe shoes, volunteer shirt, and name tag are required apparel when attending New Hire Orientation or any Michigan Humane event. If you do not already have a volunteer shirt or name tag, please speak with Riley Amato when you arrive to the orientation, or contact the coordinator for your home shelter location to request them:
