Shelter Lunch - April 2024

We continue to keep a safe working environment for our guests, volunteers and staff. Thank you for considering helping today!

 

Registration Requirements:

Volunteers must be at minimum 16 years of age, volunteers younger than 18 years of age must bring a signed and completed youth waiver when arriving on site for shift. Please find a copy here.

 

While most of our 350 guests leave the shelter for the day, many who work nights or who volunteer during the day stick around to get some much-needed rest. Help our cooks prepare a tasty lunch and make a difference in their lives!

 

*PLEASE NOTE: Guest numbers are low during lunch due to restrictions on day-time use of the Foothills Shelter. Guests who are attending lunch are there because of special needs, evening work schedules and helping as volunteers. Even though guest numbers may be low, your contribution to staff and their efforts is greatly appreciated! Thank you for helping us throughout our mid-day operations!  

Lunch Prep & Clean: Max. 6 people
9:00am - 11:30am
Volunteers will help prepare the afternoon meal for our guests. They will also help package bagged lunches for the majority of our guests who leave the Shelter for the day. You will be instructed and supervised by kitchen staff members making a variety of tasty and healthy dishes using a hands-on approach. This shift includes helping to tidy the kitchen before lunch service begins.

 

Lunch Serve & Clean: Max. 3 volunteers on weekdays & 5 volunteers on weekends
11:30am-1:30pm
Our meals are served cafeteria style. Volunteers will plate the meals so that our guests can come up and take them.
