Opportunity Details | MRC's Only - Recycling Contamination Field Study

Opportunity Name:
MRC's Only - Recycling Contamination Field Study

Description:

Thurston County Public Works is seeking MRC volunteers (Intern, Certified, Emeritus) for a hands-on field study of recycling contamination. On this particular day we’ll be visiting two apartment complexes to assess the amount and types of contamination in curbside recycling carts.  Data collected will be included in a study determining effectiveness of new educational tools to be distributed in 2024.

These two sites will be visited on one Monday each month in March, April, August, September, and October. Visits will last between approximately two hours and four hours, rain, or shine. Volunteers are welcome to help one time or join us each month. Safety vests, tongs, disposable gloves, and hand sanitizer will be provided. More details will be provided in the week before the site visit.
