Opportunity Name:
MAPS - Peer Mentoring |

Description:
**PLEASE BE SURE TO SIGN IN AT MAPS TO RECEIVE CREDIT**
MAPS is a center that helps kids with autism and other developmental delays learn and develop social skills by interacting with peers. Volunteers talk and play games with kids with autism! There’s lots of fun activities to do at the sessions and just showing up is greatly appreciated by MAPS. People in the play groups (whether they are working on skills or volunteering) learn so much from communicating and hanging out with kids different from themselves.
Ages of volunteers needed range from 11-18 years old. Volunteers will be in peer social groups according to their age. Before signing up for the first Peer Mentoring session, volunteers are required to attend a 45 minute orientation that walks them through the roles, responsibilities, and expectations. If you are new and interested in helping, please contact Kerri at 916-213-3512 for further information.
Peer Mentoring sessions are offered Tuesdays and Thursdays every week from 3:45-4:30 and 5:15-6:00 PM. We request that volunteers commit to attending the same day of the week for a semester if possible to build a positive relationship with the clients at MAPS.
