Agency SNAP Volunteer- Michelle D. Hunter Pantry (Lexa)

In the Arkansas Foodbank service area, over 30% of those eligible for SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits do not utilize the program. That’s where Agency SNAP Volunteers come in!  

As a volunteer you’ll be tasked with pre-screening potential applicants and helping those who are interested in completing an application at your partner agency location. You will help break down barriers that prevent many Arkansans from applying for SNAP benefits and accessing nutritious foods.  Reporting directly to the SNAP Manager, you'll receive SNAP-specific training and technical support as you gain hands-on experience in public service, non-profit organizations, community development, operations, and outreach. This is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in your community while developing valuable skills. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:  The Arkansas Foodbank requests that SNAP volunteers commit to at least three months of service, involving at least three hours of volunteering each month.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Commitment to being open to elements of diversity within different communities.
• Maintain a compassionate, positive, and non-judgmental attitude.
• Ability to communicate effectively, oral and written format.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Ability to operate basic computer software.
