Lunch Service for Older Adults

OVERVIEW

The Weinberg Center for Balanced Living at Manny Cantor Center serves a diverse population of older adults ages 60+ with everything from nutritious kosher meals, health and wellness programs, case workers, dance, art, language and fitness classes and a wide array of social events both in-person and virtual. During the pandemic we had to stop our breakfast and lunch service, and are instead distributing grab & go meals to older adults. We need the help of volunteers to pack breakfast and lunch each day.

 

WHAT IS YOUR COMMITMENT?

• Help serve hot and healthy meals to older adult community members
• Ensure cleanliness and all hygiene rules are followed
• Help manage the lunch ticket line
• Ability to follow instructions, and work quickly as part of a team
• Responsibilities include set-up and clean-up of tables before and after each seating, serving food, helping people find seats, and greeting members
• Lunch Service Volunteering will be from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM

HOW TO GET STARTED:

• Complete the volunteer application
• Sign-up for meal service shifts (only register if you know you can make it)
• Must be vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof will be required.

BE A MEAL SERVICE VOLUNTEER IF YOU…

• Are comfortable handling food and practice good hygiene
• Like to volunteer in a fast-paced environment with other people
• Want to give back to the community and  a diverse group of older adults

Please note: This volunteer activity will require you to stand for most of the shift and be able to do some light lifting.
