| Description:
The Rio Grande County Mobile Food Pantry is currently organized by Care and Share Food Bank. All the food we provide is free of charge and distributed through a drive-thru model. While volunteering at Mobile Food Pantry, you will have the opportunity to support other's access to healthy groceries in several ways. This shift includes signing folks up for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and distribute TEFAP foods and Every Day Eats boxes to seniors. These are physically demanding shifts and may include lifting weight up to 40 lbs.
This volunteer opportunity is for ages 14 and up.
As a volunteer, you are an essential part of our team! You will ensure we help load vehicles with groceries, and welcome and assist neighbors visiting the market.
IMPORTANT: Due to food safety and OSHA safety, closed toed shoes are required when volunteering at the Mobile Food Pantry. After you sign in, please wash your hands. Wash whenever needed throughout your shift, such as after using the bathroom, touching your face or hair, eating or drinking, or handling trash. The event is held outdoors, so please dress for the weather.
