Event Description:

RESERVED for Baylor APO. 

Special Note: On Thursday, April 22nd, the 'meal' will instead be an outdoor picnic style, cooked outside and sponsored by the team at Sodexo Corporation. Baylor volunteers should come prepared to help with the picnic, wear a Baylor or Baylor APO shirt and be prepared to be outdoors. The picnic will go from 5-7pm. Volunteers should arrive by 4:30 (or earlier if able). If you're able to stay until the end, that would be great but we will appreciate any and all time you can give.)

 

At The Salvation Army Community Kitchen we serve meals 365 days a year to the homeless and hungry thanks to the aid of donors and volunteers. In fiscal year 2019-20, together we were able to serve over 50,000 meals! We are so grateful that you have chosen to help with this effort.


Meals are currently provided as a hybrid of either sit-down or take-out. Our dining room has limited seating and there is outdoor seating in our courtyard or guests can take the meal with them.

  • Volunteers help plate or package the meals, drinks, and snacks, prep supplies, and help with clean-up.
  • A mask is required by staff, volunteers, and guests (when not seated and eating). If you cannot bring your own, we do have a supply available.
  • If you are high-risk, have possibly been exposed, or have any symptoms, however mild, please do not volunteer.
  • Dress code: wear long pants, closed toe shoes or sneakers. Hairnets, gloves, and aprons will be provided.
  • No children under 14 allowed at this time and those under 18 must have an adult with them.

Arrival:

  • Please arrive by 4:30 pm at 300 Webster and pull through the side gate for parking. Park and enter through the door under the metal awning. Ask for the staff on duty who will provide instructions.
  • Everyone must sign-in and sign-out. Binder is inside the kitchen doorway.
  • If this is your first time helping us or you have not volunteered during this calendar year, please ALSO sign/complete a waiver (you only need to do this once per year).
  • Expect to stay until 6:30pm to help with clean-up in the kitchen.
