OFF-SITE - Pack Healthy Family Meal Kits

Collect ingredients for the BBQ Chicken Burrito Bowl and/or the 8 Can Chili recipes, then pack complete meal kits for distribution to families in need in our community! 

 

How It Works

The Healthy Family Meal Kit program has two components: a food or fund drive followed by a volunteer activity.

 

Food/Fund Drive:

Each meal kit box needs to include all of the items listed below. Collecting items in bulk or asking several volunteers to purchase food in bulk after collecting monetary donations works very well for this drive.

Each kit provides all the necessary ingredients for an easy, complete nutritious meal to feed one hunger-insecure family.

BBQ Chicken Burrito Bowl:

1 (9.75oz) can Swanson white chicken

1 (18oz) bottle BBQ sauce (no glass)

1 (15oz) can black beans

1 (15.25oz) can corn

1 (14oz) box instant brown rice

2 (15oz) cans pears/canned fruit

 

8 Can Chili Includes:

1 (14.5oz) can chicken broth

1 (4.5oz) can diced green chilies

1 (12.5oz) can chicken breast
(drained and flaked) 

2 (15.5oz) cans beans, undrained
(kidney, red, pinto or black)

1 (14.5oz) can petite diced tomatoes, undrained 

1 can white corn, lightly drained

1 (8oz) can tomato sauce

1 packet of chili seasoning

 

Volunteer Activity:

At the end of your food drive, coordinate a date with our Community Engagement team for you to come by and pick up the boxes and recipe cards you'll need to complete the meal kits. Then pack the individual meal kit boxes for easy transport back to our facility for distribution.

 

This project is worth 1 service hour for each packed meal kit. (Court-ordered community service does not qualify for this opportunity).
