Volunteer Opportunity: Chess Club Volunteer
 
Project Description: 
A Chess Club made up of 5 -11 year-olds who come together and play chess. All skill levels are welcome. The club meets on Thursday weekly at 4:00-5:00 p.m. Occasionally, we may have a tournament to test our skills. 
 
Hours: one hour (at least) per month
 
Qualifications: 
Minimum age of 18.
Pass background check. 
Patient, tolerant, and caring.
Previous experience with children a plus. 
Must be able to communicate clearly in a tactful, courteous and pleasant manner with library staff, children, and parents. 
Neat appearance. 
Loves to play chess.
Good knowledge of the game's rules.
 
Responsibilities:
Show up on your designated Thursday from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. and help facilitate good games of chess amongst children. Sharing knowledge of the game with children, as needed. Also, playing the game with various children occasionally, with the intent of making them better chess players. Sometimes, also helping out with crowd control.
