Citizen Science: HRW Stream Monitoring

Project Description:

Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation has joined the Hoosier Riverwatch (HRW) team at IDEM to start monitoring water quality in the streams that flow through our parks.

"Since 1996, Hoosier Riverwatch has engaged Indiana citizens in becoming active stewards of Indiana’s valuable water resources through its hands-on water quality education and volunteer stream monitoring program. The statewide Hoosier Riverwatch volunteer network is still going strong, with over 3,000 trained stream monitors and over 31 certified instructors."

As a HRW volunteer, you'll complete an in-field training with our HRW Coordinator. From there, you will work with her to schedule your field sampling schedule, as field sampling is a team effort! Our goal is to sample monthly, so your frequency of sampling will depend on how many volunteers we have on our HRW team!
