Description: In tabletop RPGs, one person serves as the Game Master (or "DM"), the game’s lead storyteller and referee. The GM runs the adventure for the players, who navigate its hazards and decide which paths to explore. The GM describes the locations and creatures in an adventure, and the players decide what they want their characters to do. Then the GM, using imagination and the game's rules, determines the results of their actions and narrates what they experience. Volunteer GMs must be 16 years of age or older and have permission from parent/guardian. Hours: This event takes place on “Free RPG Day,” June 22, 2024 at ImaginOn: The Joe and Joan Martin Center. As a GM, the volunteer would need to commit to running of one RPG session, which would last from 1 p.m. until 3:20 p.m. at the latest. Responsibilities:
Qualifications: A volunteer GM requires adequate experience as determined by library staff; prior experience playing TTRPGs as a GM is required. Volunteer GMs must be 16 years of age or older and have permission from parent/guardian. Training: Training with regard to expectations of Library Volunteers will be provided prior to beginning. Guidance for GMing within a library setting will be provided as needed. As a Volunteer, you will: Develop presentational skills. Expand your social horizons. Help grow creativity and community among participants. Contribute to the success of your public library. |
