Description:
Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources is seeking individuals interested in volunteering for the Joslin Garden Volunteer Program on a weekly basis. This is an ongoing, year-long opportunity.
Over four acres of rolling hills and gardens overflow with streams, walking trails, and a diverse collection of rare and native plants, arranged in both formal and informal areas. The City of Raleigh partners with the City of Oaks Foundation to manage Joslin Garden and the Joslin House and we would love your help!
Duties and Impact: We are seeking volunteers to assist with general horticultural maintenance to help keep this garden vibrant for all to enjoy. Volunteers will attend on-site training, lead by Parks staff, outlining the basics of landscape gardening - including weeding, invasive removal, pruning, and planting. Volunteer workdays will occur on Tuesday from 9 a.m. - noon, and Wednesday from noon - 3 p.m. (based on staff's availability).
Work Environment: Volunteers will be working outside in the elements. Volunteers will be working on uneven ground and there is a restroom on site.
Requirements:
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
