Opportunity Name:
Fishing Line Recycling Volunteer - Springs Park - Lancaster

Description:

This volunteer opportunity is for the Catawba Riverkeeper Springs Park fishing line recycle bin in Lancaster, SC.

Catawba Riverkeeper manages monofilament fishing line recycling bins in South Carolina, including locations at our Outdoor Classroom, Springs Park and Catawba Nation. Monofilament fishing line is often left behind by fishermen, entrapping wildlife and posing a nuisance for boaters. We want to keep used fishing line out of our environment with your help!

We need ongoing volunteers to help manage our recycling bins in the following locations. Volunteers that live close to these locations are ideal for managing each bin. Want to adopt the bin for your group? Scout troops and groups that take long-term ownership of maintaining the bin are encouraged to volunteer.

  • Catawba Riverkeeper Outdoor Classroom in Fort Lawn, SC
  • Public Boat Launch at Nectar Road in Fort Lawn, SC
  • Public Boat Launch at Springs Park in Lancaster, SC

Visit the recycling bin monthly depending on fisherman traffic at the site, clean out the recycling bin, record the fishing line data, and send in the fishing line to be recycled! All materials and instruction are provided by Catawba Riverkeeper.
