myWDFW.com is our website dedicated to outdoor recreation information and educational content focused on hunting, fishing, and foraging in Washington. From high-level overviews that introduce new topics to detailed instructional how-to’s that dive deeper and help our audiences learn and take new skills to the field. We need it all and you can help!

WDFW invites volunteers to contribute content for myWDFW.com such as short articles or how-to videos. WDFW staff will work with you to review/edit content before publishing.

If you would like to contribute content, please sign up for this volunteer opportunity and Tom Ryle will contact you.

Currently we are looking for features covering the following topics:

Spring trout fishing
Spring chinook fishing
Spring turkey hunting
Summer trout tactics
Summer panfish
General lake and stream fishing (any species)
Introduction to fly fishing
Puget Sound salmon: beginner’s guide to the basics
Introduction to spot shrimp
General bass fishing topics (July Bass Week promo, dates TBD)
Introduction to crabbing in Washington
General topics related to summer family fishing & camping
Preparing for fall hunting seasons (any/all topics, hunting methods)
Early archery season big game hunting
Muzzleloader hunting 101
Fall black bear tips
Waterfowl hunting
Small game and resident game birds

A reminder, we are accepting written manuscript submissions with high quality photos (with captions, please) that we can use to help promote recreational hunting, fishing, getting outdoors. All submissions are subject to WDFW vetting and final editorial revision.
